The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the Department of Internal Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center specializes in treating patients who suffer from a variety of health issues related to the endocrine system, a group of organs and tissues that are responsible for producing hormones which regulate many of the body’s functions.
The division incorporates the latest techniques and services to diagnose and treat a variety of hormonal disorders, including problems related to growth, development, and reproductive function.
The highly skilled team consists of endocrinologists who are certified by the American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, as well as diabetologists, who care exclusively for diabetics and the health problems to which they are particularly prone.
In addition to general internal medicine training, endocrinologists undergo an intensive two-year curriculum focusing on diabetes and other endocrine disorders.
Since hormonal problems, and disorders of the metabolism usually have multiple negative effects on other parts of the body, the medical center’s endocrinologists often work with rheumatologists, obstetricians/gynecologists, and a variety of other specialists to provide the best, most comprehensive care to the patients they serve.
