The caring staff members of The Center for Health and Healing at Hackensack University Medical Center are dedicated to providing holistic services for those interested in prevention and wellness. Combining their skilled knowledge and sensitivity, they create a soothing environment where clients can benefit from alternative therapies and complementary medicine.

Administration

MEET THE STAFF:

Tami S. Crupi
Stress Management Coordinator
Tami is a registered nurse and certified yoga instructor (Svaroopa style). She has been practicing yoga since childhood, but became more involved with this discipline in 1996 after a serious car accident left her with severe back, neck, jaw, and knee pain. The pain relief she achieved through yoga motivated her to share this holistic approach with others. Tami started teaching yoga to clients for stress reduction and pain management, incorporating meditation, guided imagery, and relaxation into her yoga program. Tami also holds a Reiki certification

Wanda J. Ferrauiola

Qigong Meridian Therapist and Shiatsu Practitioner
Wanda is certified as a bodywork therapist by Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and holds memberships in the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia, the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation and the American Taoist Healing Center.
Certified master instructor in several martial arts and has been actively teaching and training for 33 years.

Joyce Smith

RN, BSN, BA, HNATM, Diplomate ABT
Joyce has been a registered nurse at Hackensack University Medical Center since 1991. She graduated from Montclair State University in 1982 with a BA in Psychology. In 1989, she graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Nursing. While working as a Psychiatric nurse for nine years, she became interested in studying Holistic Nursing seeking a more integrative approach to patient care. Joyce attended New York College for Health Professionals in Syosset, New York. There she earned a certificate in Holistic Nursing with a specialty in Amma Therapeutic Massage, a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine bodywork, as well as, Eastern Nutrition. Joyce graduated in 2002 with her certificate and recognition for academic excellence. She recently attained her Diplomate in Asian Bodywork Therapy from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Joyce now practices at the Center for Health and Healing, Hackensack University Medical Center, where she is able to integrate traditional Western and Eastern therapies in patient care. She was a speaker at the 2003 and 2004 Building Bridges of Integration for Traditional Chinese Medicine conference on the topic of Integrating TCM into the Hospital Setting.


Ruth Vogel, BS, LMT
Therapeutic Massage Therapist
Ruth is a licensed massage therapist, a certified reflexologist, and a Reiki master. Ruth, who graduated from New York University with a B.S. in Dance Therapy, joined the staff at The Center for Health and Healing after 18 years of private practice in New York City. She structures her sessions based in each individual’s needs, combining all of the above modalities as well as others offered at the Center. She has taught reflexology at the New York Open Center, the Omega Institute, and other massage schools.
