SOME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Again in 2003, the medical center proved to be one of the most successfully staffed healthcare facilities in the tri-state area. Recruitment and retention figures show that the medical center is one of the best staffed healthcare facilities in the United States.
- In 2003, Hackensack University Medical Center had more than 7,200 employees on its payroll. This figure represents about 5,795 full-time equivalents.
- Nurse recruitment and retention continued to experience another successful year. In 1995, the medical center became the first hospital in the country – after the pilot program - to receive the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence. This honor is the highest recognition that can be bestowed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The medical center received redesignation as a Magnet Hospital in 1999 and again in 2003.
- In May, the medical center held its Thirteenth Annual Benefits Fair. All insurance and benefits vendors attended the event to answer employees’ questions regarding specific benefits and opportunities at HUMC.
- The Annual Employee Recognition Ceremony was held in February at the Glenpointe Marriott. All employees receiving awards and recognition were invited to attend.
- National Hospital Week was held May 12-16, 2003. During the week the medical center held numerous events to honor its healthcare employees and volunteers.
- The Human Resources Department received approximately 28,500 applications and resumes. Approximately 4,300 candidates were interviewed, and more than 1,100 candidates were hired.
- The Employee Service Awards Dinner, held in May at the Westmount Country Club, was a tremendous success. Full and part-time employees with 10 or more years of service were invited.
